Environmental Responsibility

At Attar, we believe that the only responsible business model there is incorporates social responsibility through generous giving and caring for the people and environment that make up our community.   We regularly donate to local and area programs and will continue to do this with love.

At Attar, we believe wholeheartedly in our mission to work towards an earth-friendly, sustainable practices no matter how small.  We are taking many steps toward creating a healthier world through each little effort we make.

We have chosen to keep our packaging recyclable and even biodegradable by using brown craft paper to hold your herbs and spices rather than plastic bags.  Also, we collect and use recycled packing material from a nearby corporation that would otherwise be sent to the landfill.

We choose to publish our catalogs on recycled paper made using biogas and print only once a year.  We also offer our catalog online via PDF format and offer that as a first option for catalog viewing.

We have an active recycling program in place for paper, plastic and glass.

Low energy lighting throughout with fluorescents as well as some LED light bulbs that have replaced a 60 watt bulb with a 7 watts bulb.  Our office is heated with an energy efficient heating system.

Our own growing of herbs on our ten acres here is done as organically and sustainably as possible.  We are not certified organic and don’t plan to go through the regulation process however we pledge that we only grow in the most sustainable way possible.
