Star Anise is the dried, unripe, star shaped fruits of the Ilicium Verum tree, a member of the Magnolia family. Star Anise gets it’s name from a strong similarity in flavor to Anise Seed. It is widely used in Chinese cuisine and in Indian cuisine where it is a major component of Garam Masala, and in Malay and Indonesian cuisine. It can also be used in recipes that call for regular Anise. Whole Star Anise offers a beautiful presentation.
