The ground, dried fruit of the habañero variety of pepper plant from the genus capsicum, a member of the nightshade family. Habaneros are one of the hottest varieties of peppers known to man, measuring around 175,000 to 300,000 Scoville units. They have an intensely spicy hot flavor and work well in chili, salsas, sauces or anywhere heat is desired. CAUTION: The heat level of this chile requires careful handling. Wash hands and all utensils after use. Use sparingly in blends and food preparation...a little goes a long way
