Ground Nutmeg is the dried seed of the Myristica fragrans tree, a member of the nutmeg family. Nutmeg has a distinctive, pungent fragrance and a warm, slightly sweet taste. It is commonly used in Indian, Middle Eastern, and Indonesian cuisines and can be used in both sweet and savory dishes. Nutmeg pairs well with calciferous vegetables, potatoes, cheese, eggs, sausage, pumpkins and squash. Grinding some nutmeg over fruit such as fresh peaches or mangos is divine.
